Invasion

Gr 6 Up—Colt is a typical 16-year-old California dude when his world is rocked by the sudden and mysterious death of his parents in a car accident. When Colt is forced to live with his grandfather in Arizona and attend a military academy near Washington, DC, he learns that his parents were actually murdered. Colt becomes a C.H.A.O.S. (Central Headquarters Against the Occult and Supernatural) agent and is thrust into a world of the paranormal. C.H.A.O.S, whose front is the mysterious military academy, deals with monsters and aliens. Having only heard about the secret organization from Phantom comic books, Colt learns that all the things he has read over the years are true and that the alien task force is real. John Haag reads J. S. Lewis's novel (Thomas Nelson, 2011) at an even pace and without too much drama. The musical interludes between chapters reflect the story's intrigue and mystery.
