PreS-Gr 2—Professor Iris and his other puppet friends teach very simple everyday science concepts designed for a young audience. There are five episodes. "Hands and Feet" introduces animals with and without hands and feet, and talks about things we do with these body parts, how we protect them, and equipment we wear on them. "The Five Senses" provides simple information on sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. "Why Do We Eat?" focuses on nutrition with an emphasis on fruits, vegetables, and healthy snacks. "Why Do We Sleep?" touches on aspects of sleep, and "Hair" is a rather silly presentation on exactly what you'd expect. In each short episode, the subject matter is reflected in Professor Iris's bowtie pattern. There's bouncy music, some simple instruction, a little humor, and usually a chance for audience participation. Each segment ends with a brief review. There's not a lot of solid scientific information here, but the format and presentation will appeal to young children just learning basic concepts.—Teresa Bateman, Brigadoon Elementary, Federal Way, WA
