Gr 11 Up—This series outlines job search strategies from beginning to end. The vignettes are on target for today's job market. The films are produced in Australia and all speakers have either a British or Australian accent, which may take a few minutes for students to get accustomed to. The programs cover job search engines, Internet research, networking, writing a resume and cover letter, preparing for the interview, and what you should be aware of once you start the job. Real-life examples are very helpful. Viewers are given useful acronyms and tips to help them with the job search process. However, most American teens would not recognize the experts providing the information such as Tim Campbell, head of the UK Bright Ideas Competition, and personnel from various UK employment agencies. Each DVD comes with a previewing guide, a 20-question viewing guide, and a short list of extension activities. While these productions are informative, the delivery is so dry that it would not hold the attention of most teens.—Ellen Frank, Jamaica High School, Jamaica, NY
