PreS-Gr 1—In the third Junior Jukebox album, Papa Snow (veteran entertainer Michael Snow) continues with his successful formula of giving traditional children's songs a rock 'n' roll or R&B treatment. Snow's deep, gravelly voice combines with instruments such as guitars, saxophones, and percussion to bring the stylings of Ricky Nelson, Ray Charles, or Jan and Dean, to each song. Building upon the traditional lyrics of such classics as "Froggie Went a 'Courtin," "Skip to My Lou," and "Itzy Bitsy Spider," Snow creates songs that children and adults will want to dance and sing along to. Also included are several original songs like the groovin' "Together" about how cool it is to hang out with family and "Beautiful Smile," a celebration of brushing teeth.
VERDICT With songs that children will want to listen to again and again, this is a welcome addition to any collection.
