Knight Kyle and the Magic Silver Lance: Adventures Beyond Dragon Mountain

Gr 2–4—A collection of adventures starring a knight and his many friends who dwell on the east side of Fairyland. Knight Kyle is the best sword fighter and bravest knight of all, on an endless quest for a lost family heirloom, the silver lance, which gives the owner invincibility (unfortunately, it's in constant danger of being found by his worst enemies!). While the tales are short and fun, this title does not benefit from an audio recording. The book starts out with the awkward introduction of characters from Fairyland. This might be useful if listeners could continually flip back for reference as these characters are being introduced, but it doesn't quite work here. The narrator's delivery is almost too serious for the fanciful tone of the work. Music is played throughout the production, and although at times it adds to the ambience, mostly it just distracts from the story.
