Gr 2 Up—Produced much like a late night variety show, this set features instructions to help children learn to draw various items in 3D. Mark Kistler, well-known PBS-TV cartoonist and author, sits behind a large desk speaking directly to his audience while mood music plays in the background. The colors of the set are bright and the music complements Kistler's clear and direct teaching style. Each DVD contains 4 lessons. Kistler guides kids through a step-by-step process by incorporating 12 "Renaissance Words" that define each step of the 3D drawing process. For example, the word "overlapping" is shown at the bottom of the screen while Kistler draws an example on his large drawing pad. Kids can draw along with Kistler as he incorporates the 12 words to complete each project. The images pop right off the page and aspiring artists will be very pleased with the results. This set would be an asset to any grade school art curriculum or summer cartooning program.—Ivy Miller, Wyoming Seminary Upper School, Kingston, PA
