Toddler-K–Small children who are told they are too little for this or that will feel seen by Sandberg and Booth. Despite clunky rhymes and broad humor that borders on trope, this is a head-shaking funny book that will have children laughing. “Never give a baby a library card./ They could learn to do anything!/ Just think, and think hard!/ Ideas come from books,/ and too many of those can lead to big problems, as everyone knows!” What’s true about the book is that it sings a song of knowledge, however it’s gained, and celebrates how much power there is in the facts found in libraries.
VERDICT Not a necessary purchase, but by the end, readers will be in total agreement: babies and library cards don’t mix. Or do they?
