Accompanying her actor parents, Rifka explains to listeners how the adults put on their costumes and makeup. Her visit to the props department includes a warning not to eat the plaster fruit. Rifka knows the "blood" in the shows is ketchup and the "whiskey" is tea. She gets her chance to shine after innocently walking on stage. That's when she takes her first bow and declares she wants to be an actress. Elizabeth Cottle's careful narration provides listeners with a youthful glimpse into this bygone era.
