Gr 4-6–Kindergartner Maureen and older sister Wendy endure personality clashes as they deploy their superhero powers to fight aliens attacking intergalactic villages and towns, to rescue stuffed animal Bun Bun from a giant robot, or to help a talking dragon who drank a potion that makes everyone want to hit him. Divided into seven short stories, this fantasy graphic novel is a spin-off of Cazenove and Maury’s series “The Sisters.” The narrative is creative and funny but so fast paced that it can be hard to follow. The sisters’ language rings true, though parents might be annoyed with terms such as numskull, idiot, or dummy. The expressive cartoons effectively convey the narrative; however, some adults may object to the revealing clothing worn by some of the characters.
VERDICT An exciting graphic novel for those who enjoy imaginative superhero tales.
