Divorce is difficult for all concerned, especially for children. Aguilar, a clinical psychologist specializing in court-related issues, has written a very useful guide that will help all parties concerned obtain a good outcome with minimal trauma. He discusses the psychological consequences of divorce, the legal issues, the problems that children face, custody issues, and the effects of divorce on parenting. He stresses that using children to get back at one's spouse with false accusations of abuse must be avoided at all costs. He also discusses how divorce affects children and how parents should explain the reasons for it. Aguilar is a strong advocate of shared custody, allowing both parents to raise the children. He also includes information about the rights of grandparents and the issues of remarriage and blended families. Although the legal information applies to Spain, the psychosocial content is excellent and universally appropriate. The author includes a bibliography of works in English and Spanish. A useful book; recommended for public library collections.—Barbara M. Bibel, Oakland P.L., CA
