Gr 2–5—Animal lovers will make the best audience for this amusing anecdotal collection of animal stories narrated by the author. There are entertaining stories about not only Winslow's dogs but also her cats and one bird. It will be clear to listeners that the author loves all of her animals dearly; she notes that she rescued some of her pets herself and some were given to her by other rescuers. In one episode, a cat alerted Winslow to a burglar trying to break into her apartment. Other tales discuss the digestive problems of one of her dogs and the symptoms of false pregnancy that her dog Amanda experienced. Aside from being fairly entertaining overall, this audiobook is a valuable model for journal writing or blogging personal experiences.
VERDICT Young animal lovers will enjoy.
