PreS-Gr 1—Winner of the 2015 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award, this delightful book is joyfully performed by Christopher Weyant, Michael Crouch, and Emily Eiden. Two furry critters are having it out as they try to describe each other. The tall one says the other is small. The small one insists he isn't small, the other is big. Each can support his argument with evidence—other critters of the same size. The fight grows in fervor and ferocity until both much larger and much smaller critters arrive. This is a wonderful jumping-off point for discussions on perception, perspective, and comparisons. Light, teasing background music accompanies the enthusiastic performance. Naturally, the narration cannot stand alone. Listeners need the book in front of them to dive into Weyant's bold, simple, and giggle-worthy illustrations. Tracks 1 and 2 present the book with and without page-turn signals, respectively, each presentation lasting about three minutes. Track 3 is 18 minutes long and contains an interview with the author and illustrator together, more suited to adults than to the intended audience of the book but nevertheless intriguing and amusing.
