Tichauer’s approachable text and Foo’s ­vibrant, inclusive illustrations create a warm portrait of Jewish life. Some entries offer pronunciation guides while others, including oft-mispronounced terms like challah and ­Chanukah, do not, which may momentarily stymie cultural outsiders. Still, the book’s ­joyful tone and emphasis on community make it a valuable addition to library collections. ­
