PreS—The follow-up to Naptime with Theo and Beau (Feiwel & Friends, 2015), this title puts the adorable puppy Theo and toddler Beau in the bath. The story, such that it is, begins with the inseparable pair getting good and dirty at the beach. Then it's "time to get clean." This entails some water, bubbles, toys, soap, and a scrub. Full-color photographs are engaging throughout. The spreads could tell the story without words, and the multicolored typeface adds whimsy and humor. A brief word from the author gives the backstory of how the family came to rescue Theo from a shelter.
VERDICT An eminently adoptable option and fun addition to most picture book collections.

Shyba's toddler son Beau and their rescue puppy Theo (Naptime with Theo & Beau) return for another photo book. After playing on the beach, "Beau is dirty. / Theo is dirty. / It must be bathtime!" Like its predecessor, there's not much of a story here, but the sweet, sudsy photographs successfully capture the boy-and-dog bond. Theo's adoption story is included.
