Big Brave Daddy

Pre-K–A simple text is paired with Coh’s round-faced, mouse-eared figures to emphasize how little ones idolize their dads. “Meet Charlie. Charlie loves his daddy.  Daddy is big and brave.”  While Charlie swims in the bathtub, sleds down the hill, climbs to the top of the slide, rides his tricycle, or walks down the sidewalk to the corner, he knows that when he grows up he will join his father in finding true adventure. Foldout pages allow young readers to first see Charlie, open the page, and then watch what his Daddy does. He moves with ease swimming through deep water, climbs up and sleds down high mountains, races his bike up hills, and hikes across town. Coh’s soothing, brightly colored circles, blocks, and lines form a series of identifiable images of a child’s treasured places of fun–the bathtub, playground, street, family home, and snow-covered trees.
