Brief storylike chapters (all of them rather anticlimactic) introduce recipes and activities—five in all, including Marzipan snowballs, Christmas dough ornaments, Christmas "crackers" (toilet paper roll), wrapping-paper decorations, and carved Star Apples (adult warning included). In short chapters, mouse Vera prepares her house for Christmas. Directions are provided for many of her crafts including "marzipan snowballs," "Christmas dough ornaments," and "Christmas cracker" toys; this is the book's main draw as the story line fizzles. Tidy illustrations show woodland animals enjoying the season.
