Gr 10 Up–Yakuto is one of many demon hopefuls to attempt the deadly entrance exam for Dead Rock Academy where the prize for surviving to graduation is ruling a slice of the human world. Yakuto may not seem like an imposing or strong demon at first, but he’s harboring a secret power that makes him a formidable foe, possibly even to the God of Demons, provided he can convince his new classmates to join together for their mutual survival. This latest series from the creator of series like “Fairy Tail” and “Edens Zero” stars another large cast of colorful characters, with plenty of standouts for readers to find a favorite. Like Mashima’s other works, there are a fair amount of character designs that depict sexualized figures. This, alongside the emphasis on fantasy violence and blood spill, make it a title best suited for older readers.
