Toddler-PreS—The creator of Dear Zoo (Little Simon, 2005) here introduces wee ones to the animals of the barnyard and the sounds they make. There's a dog, a cow, a sheep, a pig, a hen, a cat, and some chicks. The simply drawn artwork features appealing colors, and the rounded animals with open mouths really appear to be expressing themselves. A fine choice to read before or after a rousing round of "Old MacDonald."
