My Little Pony: Detective Hitch

PreS-Gr 3–The game is a-hoof when ponies Detective Hitch and Zipp partner up to track down their missing friends, as this mystery involving icing and sprinkles is far too difficult for just one pony to solve. Easy reader mysteries can be challenging due to their simplicity; however, it’s never addressed why the clues, including a full carton of broken eggs, are just lying around, or how Detective Hitch knew that partner Zipp also wanted to be a detective. A generic yet helpful primer at the beginning instructs those new to graphic novels about different comic terms and word bubbles typically used. However, there’s very little panel accentuation within the story, as most pages just feature one full-page panel, further blurring the line between a graphic novel and a modern easy reader. Word choice is often simple enough, and multisyllabic words like "investigation, ingredients, and detective" can be easily sounded out, but may be considered too difficult for a Level 1 Reader.
