Toddler-PreS–With giant animal mouths that open on a gatefold and menus of sometimes groan-worthy dishes, this book demands interactivity. Kitty, puppy, bear, shark, crocodile, lion, dinosaur, and alien all need to be fed. Might the dinosaur like “Apples and oranges, macaroni and cheese,/ raisins and grapes, or lava-fried peas?” Onlookers choose and “feed” it to him. It will be hard for little ones to resist opening and closing the mouths of these childlike critters with appreciative sound effects.
VERDICT You can’t actually feed a shark, so this may be the next best thing, and best of all, there are no pieces to lose.
