Gr 9 Up—Paige is trying to get through high school with her two best friends and no drama, but partying, drinking, and drugs slowly become a big component of their lives. Lying is just what they do; they lie to themselves and one another. Soon, they are so deep in their lies that they reach the point of no return. Written in free verse, each chapter opens with the title to a new poem. Due to the nature of the spare text, the characters aren't adequately developed. The format does make for a quick reading experience.
VERDICT Give this coming-of-age work to fans of YA verse novels and reluctant readers.
