After Sarang learns that her school may need to close due to under-enrollment, her parents consider a move to the city. Sarang decides to act, moved by her grandmother’s experience as a child unable to finish her education because she had to work to support her family. Soft pastel illustrations provide a welcoming look into Sarang’s beloved small town, emphasizing the story’s themes of family, community, and the importance of dignity for all learners, young and old.
VERDICT An effective picture book about the power of education at any age.
