PreS-Gr 1—Wright and Hillenbrand continue a winning recipe with their latest book. This time Big Bear has collected a giant pail of blueberries and plans to eat them all himself. His friends spy the delicious-looking stash and wish they could have some, too. Enter the old oak tree, who reminds the protagonist, "Share, Big Bear, share!" Of course, Big Bear isn't paying attention and mishears the oak tree's entreaties. Sublime silliness ensues until Big Bear finally hears properly, gets the message, and shares with his friends.
VERDICT Rhyming text and charming colorful illustrations make this an easy go-to for a read-aloud and lessons on sharing. A sure bet for any library.

Clueless Bear (from [cf2]Sleep, Big Bear, Sleep![cf1] and [cf2]Sneeze, Big Bear, Sneeze![cf1]) returns for another rhyming story, this one about sharing. Big Bear misunderstands an old oak tree's admonitions to share and thus keeps his berries to himself until he (rather abruptly) gets the memo: "Well...you could have told me before!" Hillenbrand's expressive and appealing illustrations give the book its charm.
