PreS-Gr 1–When all of the lights at the library are turned off for the day and the last librarian goes home to bed, the books turn out and off of their shelves to chat with one another about their readers. Some books share that they were read on the bus, or during lunch, or at bedtime. One book, Dusty, sadly reports that he’s never been read at all and doesn’t even know what type of book he is. The books devise a scheme, and while it doesn’t go quite as planned, leave it to serendipity and the magic of the library for Dusty to fall into the lap of one special reader. The single pages and spreads are inviting, inclusive, and colorful, with sweet-faced characters and detailed visuals.
VERDICT This celebration of the wonder of the library and the love of reading is sure to please readers everywhere. A perfect choice for a library-themed read-aloud.
