Gr 5–8—These projects will delight kids. Instructions are straightforward, but the text is small and the descriptions wordy, which might put off younger children with limited reading comprehension and attention spans. In addition, much of the work required is time and detail oriented, and there are no parental supervisory warnings about the use of knives for cutting. The book begins with a lengthy introduction, laying out the history of duct tape, necessary tools, and the basics of how to create duct tape sheets, the basic building block of all projects. The crafts include bags, puppets, piggy banks, and clothes, and kids who catch on will likely be able to use the skills learned to come up with their own ideas-the range here suggests that nearly anything is possible with duct tape. Photographs present the finished projects, while step-by-step diagrams lay out the instructions for completion. Add this one to collections serving crafty, creative kids.—Heather Talty, formerly at Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School, New York City
