The lyrics to the popular carol are accompanied by whimsical illustrations that match the words of the song. For example, “In fields where they lay keeping their sheep” has beautiful imagery of fields and sheep being protected by their elders. Families of bears, fox, sheep, turkeys, and more play together, sleep together, and look out for each other in the winter months as they all await the joyful coming of the Christmas season, represented by the birth of the King of Israel.
VERDICT Recommended for additional purchase. Though in the format of a board book, most babies and toddlers will only delight at the pictures of the animals, unless they are already familiar with the song.
