The Ghost of Wreckers Cove

Gr 5 Up–Cristina and her younger sister Martha are still grieving the loss of Mamá when Papá moves them to a quiet property close to an abandoned lighthouse on the coast of Maine. Cristina would prefer to stay indoors with her phone but grudgingly gives in to Martha’s insistence that they explore their new surroundings. That’s how they meet Ida, a mysterious red-haired woman who appears and disappears randomly. As the girls become increasingly convinced that Ida is a ghost, they decide to find out what happened to her and how they can help her. They form a supernatural detective club of two and immerse themselves in discovering the maritime history of their new area. Tender and moving, Ida’s mystery becomes the catalyst needed to prevent Cristina from retreating within herself and allows her to begin to enjoy her family and life around her again.
