Gr 1—3—Molly and her friend Abby can't wait to get to the Ruby Rose concert. Too bad they're depending on Molly's sister for a ride, because Sarah keeps running into bad luck. First the car breaks down, and then the concert tickets are unavailable because the credit card was left behind. Fortunately, and quite implausibly, their luck goes from bad to great when they end up backstage instead of in the audience. And things get even better when a favor they did earlier for a couple of strangers turns out to have unexpected and thoroughly delightful consequences. This entry in a series in which parents and children alternate reading sections of text may go over well with kids who are into pop stars and wish fulfillment. The artwork is colorful in a garish way and isn't much different from what you'd see on a greeting card. The whole package seems as ephemeral as Ruby Rose's fame probably will be, so buy only where the series is popular.—Lauralyn Persson, Wilmette Public Library, IL
