Indiana District School Board Votes to Ban 6 Books | WANE
The board of the Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School Corporation in Garrett, IN, voted to remove six books from the district’s approved list. The six titles banned because of explicit or implied sexual content are: Forrest Gump, Brave New World, A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Handmaid’s Tale, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. All but one board member voted in favor of removing the books from the list.

In a 7-0 vote, the Hillsborough County (FL) School Board removed two books across all schools in the district. The books are Blankets by Craig Thompson and Identical by Ellen Hopkins. Nearly 50 residents and parents on both sides of the argument spoke at public comment during the meeting that lasted multiple hours.
Virginia District School Board Bans 4 of Final 6 Books on Book Ban List | WHSV
The Rockingham County (VA) School Board voted to remove four of the six remaining books that were under consideration to be banned from the district. The books, which were already temporarily banned back in early 2024, have been reviewed by the district’s content review committee.
In a 4-1 vote, four of the books—Rage by Jackie Morse Kessler, Out of Darkness by Ashley Hope Pérez, Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks, and Beloved by Toni Morrison—were banned, citing sexual content. The other two books—The Bluest Eye by Morrison and Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut—were deemed appropriate in a 5-0 vote and will return to shelves.

After outcry from conservative activists and Christian parental rights' groups, Maricopa County (AZ) relocated kids' sex ed books to the tops of shelves in the adult nonfiction section at 12 of its 14 Valley libraries. The change affects more than 50 titles and nearly 240 individual books, many focused on puberty.
