Tomb Raider 1 195x300 Dark Horse Brings Tomb Raider Back to ComicsRecently, the video game Tomb Raider and its main character Lara Croft got a reboot, taking Lara back to her beginnings as an archaeologist and tough adventurer. Dark Horse Comics has picked up on the popularity of the video game and has a new ongoing series coming out which continues Lara’s story from where it left off in the game.

The story is written by Gail Simone, a highly respected writer who has worked for both the Big Two, Marvel and DC, as well as smaller publisher like Bongo Comics. Already a fan of the video games, Gail has said in an interview with Comic Book Resources, that the series will be more than just “her crawling on an island.” There will be plenty of globe-trotting adventure, as any fan of the series would expect. But at the same time, with the story taking place in Lara’s past, there is still plenty of room to expand that doesn’t need any kind of previous knowledge of the franchise.

Tomb Raider #1 was released on February 26, 2014. It’s an action/adventure story and I would rate it for Older Teens. Both fans of the video game series as well as lovers of just a good action tale should check this issue out. Find a local comics shop near to get it.
