Oyster’s “All You Can Read” Ebook Service Now Available For iPad

Oyster, the “all you can read,” on-demand ebook app, is now available for iPhone and iPad. In addition, an invite to participate is no longer required. The service, which formally launched in early September, is one that the library community should become familiar with, advises librarian and INFOdocket editor Gary Price.

Oyster is now available for iPhone and iPad.

This service formally launched in early September and it (and similar services) are a must for the library community to monitor, understand (as best as possible), and prepare for moving forward. These types of services are something we’ve been writing about for well over one year. Our post from September 5th offers links to most of our comments.

Now, to today’s news from Oyster.

From the Oyster Blog:

Today, we’re excited to introduce Oyster for iPad. As part of the update, we’re also making Oyster fully open to the public— no invitation required. New readers can now start reading with a free month.

With our new iPad app, we haven’t just scaled up the iPhone version (that would just look silly).
