Exclusive Cover Reveal! Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Meltdown

The new cover and title of Jeff Kinney's 13th installment in the blockbuster "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series has been revealed! Fans, though, will have to wait until October 30 to get their hands on a copy.
It's official: the cover and title of Jeff Kinney's lucky 13th installment of the blockbuster "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series is a secret no longer. The cover image of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Meltdown was released today in an exclusive reveal on SLJ's semi-monthly live stream video series, Book Nerds, which airs every other Tuesday at 1 p.m. (E.T.) on Facebook. Beyond the title and cover art, "Wimpy" fans are often eager to see the color of each new book, which has ranged from the iconic true red of book one to a bright kelly green for book three and, most recently, in book 12, a brilliant sky blue. The 13th installment, straying from the past design choices of a solid color throughout, will feature subtle ombre shading from navy to fuschia. The cover depicts the lovable Greg Heffley as a slowly melting snowman. Though details about the plot are still being kept mostly secret for now, the publisher,  Abrams, released the following summary: "When a wintry blast closes Greg Heffley’s middle school, it turns his neighborhood into a battleground, complete with snow forts, alliances, betrayals, and epic snowball fights." Fans, though, will have to wait until the October 30, 2018 release date before they can get their hot little hands on a copy.
