K-Gr 2 –These animated programs are tailored to short attention spans and don’t demand rigorous adherence to specific form. Good Morning begins with perky piano music and a brief introduction before depicting a series of brightly drawn multicultural children breathing in, breathing out, and demonstrating clearly described and unembellished yoga poses. Boldly colored and simply illustrated birds, butterflies, crabs, and puppies romp among the youngsters as they stretch tall, roll shoulders, and press palms and feet into the earth in a 13-minute sequence. Students move through side twists, forward bends, downward-facing dog, boat pose, and more. Good Night has the same engaging illustration style, with somewhat muted colors and slower tempo music for a soothing seven-minute segment. Narrator Elizabeth Cottle speaks in lilting, clear tones as she goes over movements on both discs, each of which includes a three-minute visualization segment to prepare for or end the day in a calm frame of mind. The yoga segments and visualizations could also be played before nap time. Good Morning would be suitable for a somewhat active indoor recess on a rainy day. Stressed out teachers or parents might also enjoy following along. VERDICT A great addition for most elementary schools.–
