goosebumps-1Goosebumps writer R.L. Stine revealed on Reddit that he is writing comics. “I’m writing a series of comic books for Marvel– my first comics ever,” he said. “But I’m not allowed to talk about them yet.” Marvel had no comment.

Publishers Weekly’s list of this year’s best books for middle-grade readers includes two graphic novels, Raina Telgemeier’s Ghosts and Matt Phelan’s Snow White: A Graphic Novel.

Writer Ryan North and artist Derek Charm talk about Jughead’s crossover romance with Sabrina the Teenage Witch in the latest issue of Jughead.

Our fellow SLJ blogger Travis Jonker posts a list compiled by Follett of the most circulated books in school libraries. The list mixes all types of books, which makes it all the more impressive that Raina Telgemeier’s Smile and Sisters take the third and fourth slots, respectively, just behind Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians and R.J. Palacio’s Wonder—and ahead of all the Harry Potter books. Big Nate also makes the list, along with prose-comics hybrids Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Dork Diaries.

Raina Telgemeier talks about loving comics as a kid—and learning they could be more than just light entertainment—as well as her career and her life as a creator.

Looking for something to read—or to add to your library? The Seattle Public Library has posted their own list of great graphic novels for middle-grade readers.
