VIRGINIA HAMILTON AND ARNOLD ADOFF CREATIVE OUTREACH GRANT FOR TEACHERS AND LIBRARIANS

The Virginia Hamilton Conference on Multicultural Literature for Youth is accepting applications for the Annual Virginia Hamilton and Arnold Adoff Creative Outreach Grants for Teachers and Librarians. The group gives two $1,000 grants annually –one to a K–12 teacher and one to a school librarian or youth services librarian in a public library–for projects to develop new classroom or library programs that raise awareness of multicultural literature among young people, particularly, but not exclusively, through the works of Virginia Hamilton. ISTE AWARDS

The annual International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) awards recognize exceptional educators and leaders whose work “provides a model for teaching, learning and leading in the digital age.” The group awards six juried awards: Outstanding Leadership: Educators whose leadership advances the transformation of education through technology Outstanding Teacher: Classroom teachers who apply technology to engage and empower students Outstanding Young Educator: Educators 35 years or younger who transform learning through the visionary use of technology Advocacy: Individuals who champion ed tech policy at the local, state, regional, national, or global level Distinguished District Award:  The innovative application of technology across a school system Kay L. Bitter Vision Award: Individuals who integrate technology with vision and creativity in a PK–2 classroom Non-juried awards: President's Volunteer Service Award: Individuals who demonstrate commitment and inspire others to volunteer Making IT Happen Award: For visionary educators and leaders who cultivate connected, empowered learners The deadline for nominations is February 28. ASCLA INAUGURAL MENTORING PROGRAM 

The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) is launching an annual mentoring program. ASCLA is looking for applications for mentors and mentees. This full-year program is “designed to provide knowledge, insight and training on advocacy for specific specialized areas of librarianship. Mentees should have an interest in one or more of ASCLA's core areas of service including state library agencies, federal and armed forces libraries, working with populations that are underserved, library cooperatives and consortias, independent librarians or consultants. Mentors will offer unique insights to the areas of service, career opportunities and professional growth provided through less-known niche areas of library services. “ The mentorships begin in June at the 2018 ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans. Mentor applications are open to ASCLA members while mentee applications are open to all. Deadline for application is March 16. 2018 John Cotton Dana Awards

The American Library Association (ALA) is accepting submissions for the 2018 John Cotton Dana Awards. Managed by the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), the awards honor outstanding library public relations.

Each year, the H.W. Wilson Foundation grants up to eight $10,000 John Cotton Dana Awards.

AASL Affiliate of the Year Award

The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is accepting applications for its inaugural Affiliate of the Year Award. The award recognizes the AASL Affiliate organization “most active and dynamic in achieving the goals of AASL at the state and local level.” Application deadline is  March 19.
