YALSA’s Teen Book Finder is one of my favorite apps.  I recommend it to my high school students and I/we often take it to the shelves on our iPhones, iPods or iPads for inspiration connected to YALSA’s recommended titles.  

Good news.  This week, YALSA launched an updated version of the free app that now includes titles honored by YALSA’s 2013 awards or appearing on its 2013 lists.

YALSA president Shannon Peterson shared:

The Teen Book Finder is a great resource for library workers, educators, parents, and teens to utilize to find award winning books and recommended reading. We’re really happy it has received such a great response since our members work so hard and enthusiastically to identify the best in young adult literature, and we’re extremely grateful to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for funding the project.

Teens, and other YA lit fans can now access three years of suggestions on their mobiles. An android app is planned for 2014.

Books may be searched by author, title, award, genre, or booklist.  A Find It! button, connected to the OCLC’s WorldCat Search, displays available local holdings and formats.  Each day Three Hot Picks appear.  A favorite button allows users to create individualized reading lists.  Books may be shared socially on Twitter and Facebook.
