Picture Book Mini Trend Alert!
Hugging the unhuggable. It’s an idea that has serious picture book legs.
I think the first time I saw a book on this topic was a couple years back:
Hugs from Pearl by Paul Schmid
And this one was out around the same time:
Hug Me by Simona Ciraolo
The idea also showed up in one of my favorite read aloud go-tos:
Hug Machine by Scott Campbell
More unfulfilled hugs in 2017:
No Hugs for Porcupine by Zoe Waring
Unrequited hugs in 2018:
Hedgehog Needs a Hug by Jen Betton
And now (thanks to the Mile High Reading 2019 Picture Book Preview) I see that there will be more not hugging in 2019:
Nobody Hugs a Cactus by Carter Goodrich
I Need a Hug by Aaron Blabey
Grab a few of these for an instant unhuggable story time.
