Gr 8–11—Loreli's life, at least since the disappearance of her parents, has been unremarkable. But now, in her sophomore year, she's being stalked. She's not sure why Cameron, a boy she's known since kindergarten, has suddenly started following her around, glaring at her, but it's totally giving her the creeps. He's even camped outside her window all night in the rain. Then Jared shows up. The quintessential new boy in school, he is dark to Cameron's blond, and the two seem to be instant enemies. They also seem to be fighting over Loreli. But what makes her so special? And why does it seem that Jared already knows her somehow? This entry into the celestial genre has unique and interesting aspects, but the narrative rambles somewhat. Still, the main story line is a coherent and entertaining read, and teen girls who focus on the central trio of characters will not be disappointed by the Twilight-esque elements.Heather Miller Cover, Homewood Public Library, AL
