Toddler-PreS—This tender story about the introduction of a new sibling is the perfect book to share with new big brothers and sisters. Little Bear has a perfect life and is the center of his parents' attention. They play together and are a whole family, until his parents tell him he is going to have someone new to play with soon because Mama has a baby growing in her belly. The day comes, and it is not much fun to begin with: when Little Bear wakes up, Mama and Papa are not at home. And then his baby sister, Anna, comes home. Everyone thinks she is so special, but Little Bear does not agree. Anna is loud and stinky, and she can't do anything. What a disappointment. The worst thing is that Anna takes Mama and Papa away from him. They never have time to play with him. She sleeps in his place and takes all their attention. Little Bear slowly finds a way to solve his dilemma. And his solution is one that older siblings everywhere eventually discover—there is still room for them in the family, and the new addition is not all bad. The soft watercolor illustrations are exactly right. Parents are big and hold a large place on the book's pages. Little Bear is small but not tiny like baby Anna.
VERDICT A tender, loving addition to new baby collections.
