The storyline is engaging, following the girls’ process of elimination as they use clues to figure out what happened. The book also features a diverse cast and mixed families, with some characters appearing to be white, Black, Chinese, and biracial. The writing style is clear and succinct with minimal text on each page to hold the attention of readers. Text is presented in both Spanish and English. The illustrations are emotive and engaging and perfect for the family-centered story. The informational back matter also adds educational value.
VERDICT A high-quality book that combines mystery and fun with math and learning. Highly recommended for the dual-language format and bilingual story time.
