The New Jersey State Library is offering multicultural program awards for its public libraries.
The New Jersey State Library (NJSL) is accepting applications for the Multicultural Program Award. For the program's maiden year, the award will focus on honoring outstanding public library programs that increase understanding and promote multiculturalism through creative and sustainable cultural programming. "New Jersey libraries have been aware about the changes in demographics because of our proximity to NYC and Philadelphia," says Mimi Lee, the adult, urban, and diversity specialist at NJSL. She adds, "New Jersey has been one of the popular states for new immigrants to settle down. Lots of libraries have been trying to embrace this world culture within their communities, and we [at NJSL] realize there is no award or program that recognizes those efforts in our libraries." Programs offered within the last two years preceding the award application deadline (April 7) shall be eligible to receive the award. Lebanon high school has started a multicutlural club and we are looking for a t-shirt design. I am the adviser for the club and a teacher at he high school as well. Do you know where we can obtain permission to possibly use the tree and hand image as our t-shirt design? Thanks a ton, Diana Rivera ESOL Teacher @ LHS Lebanon, PA 17042Posted : Aug 01, 2014 06:29
