Pictures of the Week: Celebrating Teen Read Week 2013
Teen Read Week, YALSA's annual national adolescent literacy initiative, was held this year from October 13-19. Librarians who serve teens organized events, displays, and programs to encourage them to be lifelong readers and library users. This year's theme, "Seek the Unknown @ your library," is illustrated in this terrarium based on Maggie Stiefvater's The Raven Boys, created by Molly Wetta of Lawrence Public Library, Kansas.

The annual celebration was held this year from October 13-19, and librarians who serve teens organized events, displays, and programs to encourage them to be lifelong readers and library users. This year's theme, "Seek the Unknown @ your library," is illustrated in the following photos. How did your library mark the occasion?
Teens at Lawrence Public Library, Kansas created terrariums for the favorite young adult novels. Above, an example engineered by young adult librarian assistant Molly Wetta, based on Maggie Stiefvater's The Raven Boys (Scholastic, 2012). The project was inspired by Teen Librarian's Toolbox and Library as Incubator.
