Teen Read Week is a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) in 1998. The annual celebration was held this year from October 13-19, and librarians who serve teens organized events, displays, and programs to encourage them to be lifelong readers and library users. This year's theme, "Seek the Unknown @ your library," is illustrated in the following photos. How did your library mark the occasion?Teens at Lawrence Public Library, Kansas created terrariums for the favorite young adult novels. Above, an example engineered by young adult librarian assistant Molly Wetta, based on Maggie Stiefvater's The Raven Boys (Scholastic, 2012). The project was inspired by Teen Librarian's Toolbox and Library as Incubator.
