Do you have a collaborative classroom project in mind for the coming school year? Put pen to paper and submit your application for the 2014 James Moffett Award; it could result in $1,000 in funding to support your program.
CEEDo you have a collaborative classroom project in mind for the coming school year? The National Council of Teachers of English's (NCTE) Conference on English Education (CEE) in conjunction with the National Writing Project is offering the James Moffett Award to support teacher research projects that further the spirit and scholarship of James Moffett. Moffett, a great champion of the voices of K-12 teachers, focused on such ideas as the necessity of student-centered curricula, writing across the curriculum, alternatives to standardized testing, and spiritual growth in education and life. A previous grant winner created a curriculum plan for high school English students to go "beyond the term paper" by taking direct action in the world after reading imaginative literature and nonfiction, while another was recognized for innovative creative writing workshops for middle schoolers. The honoree will receive up to $1,000 to use to fund a program or project. The application deadline is May 1. For more information, visit the NCTE CEE Moffett Award home page.
