Archie Vs Sharknado #1 – Yes, I am going there… Archie Comics does the crossover to end all crossovers! Summer: A time for beaches, barbecues, fun in the sun and sharknados! Betty and Veronica are in Washington DC with Veronica’s father, who has a proposal for lawmakers about the problem of Sharknados, when a wave of Sharknados hit the East Coast. Meanwhile in Riverdale, Josie and the Pussycats are performing at the high school’s summer dance when they are rudely interrupted by a Sharknado of their own! This one-shot not only jumps in on the fun of riffing the pop culture phenomenon that is Sharknado, the story is also concurrent with the plot of Sharknado 3. Pick up an issue to read along with the film’s July premiere.

Awkward – Yen Press releases Svetlana Chmakova’s newest graphic novel. Shy new transfer student Penelope-Peppi-Torres doesn’t want to stand out. She just wants to fit in and find some artistic friends. But when she literally bumps into geeky, friendless Jaime Thompson and is teased by the mean kids, her first instinct is to push him away and run. She feels guilty later, but she just can’t muster up the courage to apologize. But when her science grade becomes less than lackluster, she gets a tutor, and it’s Jaime. Peppi and Jaime start to become friends, but what will happen to them when their respective clubs, Art and Science, which already hate each other, have to compete to get a table at the School Club Fair? Chmakova has a talent for creating stories and characters that tweens to adults can relate to and enjoy. This title is no different. Check out our review here.
