While much of the East Coast is buried under mounds of snow, it’s heartening to look forward to spring, when it should all be melted away. TOON Books has announced their spring line-up of titles, and there are five new releases that readers will want to see!
Two of the titles fall under their TOON Graphics line, which is geared to grades 3 and up.
Frank Viva (Along a Long Road) has written Sea Change, about a young boy’s summer in camp in a remote area of Nova Scotia, where he experiences bullying. But there he also meets a mysterious young girl Mary Beth and a hidden library.
Oedipus: Trapped by Destiny, the latest entry in the Graphic Mythology series, by Yvan Pommaux, retells the classic Greek play about a man who is destined to kill his father and marry his mother?
For younger children:
James Sturm, known for his Adventures in Cartooning and The Golem’s Mighty Swing, will release a wordless story titled: Birdsong: A Story in Pictures, in which an innocent bird meets two cruel children and changes their world forever.
Kevin McCloskey, whose We Dig Worms was one of our Top Ten Graphic Novels in 2015, has another nonfiction story, The Real Poop on Pigeons!, which provides interesting tidbits that will be sure to fascinate the youngest of readers.
And finally, from the twin duo of Jean-Luc Coudray and Philippe Coudray, who write the Benjamin Bear books, comes A Goofy Guide to Penguins, a book filled with lots of silly and not-so-true facts about penguins.
