For the second year in a row, SLJ was honored with two FOLIO Awards.

SLJ's censorship coverage won a 2023 Eddie Award—for editorial achievement in print and digital media—for best overall series of articles in an B2B-education publication. The magazine's March 2023 "Zines!" cover earned an Ozzie Award, honoring design excellence, for cover design among B2B publications in the under-25,000 circulation category.

The series of stories receiving the 2023 Eddie Award were: "Access Denied: Florida Teachers Discuss Classroom Life Without Books on Shelves" by Colleen Connolly; "Uniting Against Censorship: A First-Person Account from Banned Books Week Youth Honorary Chair" by Cameron Samuels; "Are Book Bans a Civil Rights Violation?" by Kelley R. Taylor; and  "The Fight for the Freedom to Read Needs a Grassroots Revolution," "As Bills in Multiple States Threaten Librarians with Criminalization, Advocates Fight Back," "Grassroots Organizers Show How to Mount Censorship Counterattacks," "Censorship Attempts Will Have a Long-lasting Impact on School Library Collections," "School Librarian of the Year Amanda Jones Fights Back Against Online Attacks," "Utah Attorney General Provides Framework to Fight Book Bans," "Censorship's Growing Reach: Groups Target Professional Library Conferences," all written by SLJ's senior news editor Kara Yorio.

Coverage was edited and produced by Yorio, SLJ senior features editor Sarah Bayliss, and SLJ staff.
