Junior Library Guild (JLG) has created a new online program to assist school and public libraries in their fundraising. Love Our Library, which launched this month, allows librarians to quickly set up their own pages that can be used to collect direct donations and to promote fundraising events. The program also offers free downloadable, print-ready marketing materials to promote libraries' efforts. After registering with the program, a librarian is sent a link by JLG once their library's fundraising page has been activated. Parents, community members, and businesses can then make secure credit card donations, and all funds will be applied directly to the library’s account with JLG, with no fees applied. Donated funds can be used on any JLG purchase, including backlist books and subscriptions to School Library Journal, Library Journal, the Horn Book magazine, or The Horn Book Guide. “So many of JLG’s services have been developed in response to what our customers have told us they want and need. Love Our Library is one of the ways that we’ve been able to assist librarians in offering their teachers, parents, and community a simple, secure, free way to donate much needed and appreciated funds to enhance a library’s reading programs,” says Randall J. The response in just the first week has been fantastic and indicative of the need.” The free Love Our Library marketing kit offers librarians their choice of printable stickers and bookmarks, customizable letterhead, downloadable logos and graphics, and templates for flyers and and postcards, to be used in their libraries' fundraising efforts and to promote their pages.
