LeVar Burton Kids' Skybrary is now part of the Reading is Fundamental digital library, the nonprofit announced at SXSW EDU.
Actor and education advocate LeVar Burton has partnered with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), which is now the exclusive home of his interactive content collection, Levar Burton Kids’ Skybrary.
Based on Reading Rainbow, the beloved television series hosted by Burton, Skybrary is comprised of more than 900 digital books; 150 video field trips—many of which are hosted by Burton—and other features, including interactive animations. Skybrary School, an online supplemental reading service for grades K–3, offers standards-aligned lessons and teacher management tools, in addition to digital books.
LeVar Burton Kids’ Skybrary becomes part of RIF’s digital library and reading resources, the nonprofit literacy organization announced today at SXSW EDU in Austin, TX.
"We developed Skybrary to give kids more opportunities to learn about and connect with the world around them. I believe that it is through knowledge and understanding that our children are smarter, more compassionate world citizens," said Burton, who will serve as an advisor. "RIF shares our commitment to help children realize their full potential and they are the ideal partner to bring Skybrary to new audiences."
